“I hadn’t heard that before… tell me more?”

A writer at heart, Mitsuki finds that life is never as simple as the words written with pen and paper.

Easy-going and effortlessly strung along at first glance, Mitsuki is often viewed as more of a follower than a leader. Not one to really voice her own concerns or opinions, she remains a perfect candidate for those who may need a listening ear, or just casual company for an evening. Although not ignorant of how others view her, she continues to live her days with no intentions of changing; while others may prefer a more equal exchange between parties, Mitsuki prefers the distance… to know about others, but to let others know very little about herself.

In contrast to her free-spirited and bubbly exterior as a child, as an adult, Mitsuki is much more calm and collected. As life has continued to test and wear her thin, she’s grown more reserved and distrusting of others– although she has no intentions of allowing those around her to know that. Learning from her own youthful naivety, she no longer wears her heart on her sleeve; instead, she finds herself molding into the shape others view her to be… as long as it's to her benefit.

As someone who would rather control than be controlled, Mitsuki views every interaction and exchange through an observational lens– How did they respond? Are they uncomfortable? Should I play along? Continuously adapting, shifting, and altering herself… It remains difficult to distinguish what is truly her. Perhaps none of it is?

❖❖❖

While much more forthcoming on a superficial level, Mitsuki’s thoughts and feelings towards others and the world around her are quite the opposite. Nothing shy of bitter, resentful and pessimistic, her mind is plagued with thoughts that haunt her in more ways than one. Unable to clear her subconscious of old memories, she finds herself stuck in the past, unable to move on towards a brighter, warmer future. Is this what life is supposed to be?

Unsure herself, Mitsuki hesitantly presses forward… yearning for the sun that seemed to slip away from her all those years ago.
